On the 6th December Soveig and I are embarking on a new overland adventure.
When our recent attempt to drive through Africa from Cape Town to Oslo was thwarted, we returned home angry and devastated.
Our experience was life changing. Solveig and I both realised it wouldn’t be easy to get back into our old routine of living “normally” and longed for the freedom we experienced living simply while journeying through Africa.
We couldnt face the thought of media hype, consumerism, materialism and the need to surround ourselves with the latest stuff again!
We had changed and it no longer mattered.
When friends, Pieter and Sue van Oudtshoorn, who had almost completed their dream journey driving the entire length of the Americas, from Alaska to Patagonia, asked whether we knew of anybody that would like to drive their 4×4 camper from Buenos Aires back to the USA, we jumped at the opertunity.
In just over two weeks we begin a new adventure, experiencing new landscapes, cultures, and most importantly, people. We look forward to the uncomplicated lifestyle of living simply and without a rigid schedule, allowing the elements to dictate our day to day progress.
We have about 21000 kilometers to travel to reach our destination in USA and plan to take between 5 and 6 months to accomplish our wish. We hope to be able to document our progress and experiences on a regular basis via our blog site and look forward to the wonderful contact we enjoyed in Africa.
